Qaqortoq, Greenland

Seemed so nice to be welcomed back by the same red painted visitor centor I remember from ten years ago.
The church was locked but as we were photgraphing we saw a tour going in so we tagged ourselves on.
The native gentleman explained how their society works. So interesting.
Memorial rememberances for those lost at sea.
Thank goodness there was a street sign!
You can see that Carol really doesn't like even a little cold weather.
We visited the grocery / department store. Groceries downstairs and everything else including appliances were upstairs. With the exchange rate these melons were about $8 each!
Three times in a short period, visitors arrived by helicoptor and called a cab!
The Hotel / Coffee Shop was not open to we day visitors. Still Covid rules. From the other road we could see the large row or windows overlookiing the sea. Rows of rocking chairs were being used by those vacationing in Qaqortoq!
This giant mukluk was marking the hotel entrance. I thought it would have been great to make a door into it so people could have pictures of themselves coming out of it. Like the old nursery rhyme.
A lot of newer buildings indicate the population is growing.
Once again you can see that we are not in major cruise ports. No real facilities so we tender ashore. The tendering was well handled.
As a container port, though, it seemed quite busy. The small horseshoe harbor has everything clustered around it. Over the hills more construction is going on by the lake.
Back on board you can see that icebergs were all around us!
Love this picture! No penguins though.
