Djupivogur Bulandsnes, Iceland
A peaceful small port. Almost more boats than buildings!
The painted snails and circles that directed you to the WC, Water Closet, European for bathroom.
The WC was in this loan, large multi-purpose building near the dock. Restaurant and gift shop and apparently public bathrooms.
Many people had little fairy gardens with turf roofed duplicates of traditional homes.
The artist studio and garage sale style shop!
The mountains in their backyard have been mined over time for valuable minerals - granite, quartz, and spar among others.
It is easy to see the effects of the mining by looking at the distinctive stairstep sides of the mountain. To find out more about world famous Teigarhorn use this link.
Notice the eggs wind along the left side, each smaller than the one before. This site is noted in guide books as the "Big Egg." Yep! We will go see whatever they have to offer. . . and apparently walk more than a mile to do it!
We stopped at the artist's museum and shop as we saw from a distance in a picture above. Quite a sense of humor!
As we sailed away we passed a fish farm. Fish farming is contoversial here, and possibly everywhere.
It was Orange Night on HAL so I had come prepared!
