Akuryri, Iceland
Here are some random photos from our walk-about.
First look. Doesn't look like much but out the other side of the ship was a pretty good sized city.
Trolls are the thing here! Lots of people bought little souvenir ones.
We never made it back to the cute, pink, little ice cream shop.
Akureyrarkirkja, the Church of Akuryri, is Luthern and on the highest hill so that it can be seen from anywhere in town. We did not see the 'notable 3200 pipe organ' as the church was locked. It is interesting to me that the churches in Iceland have clocks on there facades. I guess there is no excuse to be late for services. (It is okay that it was locked, there are many more pipes in the one in Reykjavik!)
The knitters told us there were several yarn shops here. I guess the local ladies used their left over yarn to make trash disposal more fun.
We have not had a lot of beautiful sunsets, we thought this might be the same - it was not! I wish the pictures could let you know just how breathtaking it was!
