The Rest of the Story

By about 1:15 on Easter Sunday we were settled back into our seats on our roomy bus.  Although there are only 15 of us on the tour we have a full sized coach which gives everyone plenty of room to spread out.  This is one of the very nice touches OAT always tries to provide.  We set out for the Capital City of Zagreb.  We heard a little more about the wars such as that although the real capital city is Zagreb the Serbian factions teach in their schools that the capital is Belgrade.  This was especially true and still is in divided cities like Mostar.

We did have our usual after lunch quiet time for the first hour and a half once we got going.  Then a top and on to the big city.  Because it is Easter today and tomorrow is Easter Monday everything is and will be closed.  Tina went ahead and swapped our tour days.  She has persuaded the venues outside the city to be open for us on Monday and the City Tour, which is usually the first day, will be on Tuesday.

We arrived at the Astoria Hotel, no relation to the Waldorf Astoria, about five o'clock.  We went to our rooms and then for a walk about just to know what was near the hotel.

Jim's coffee cup looks sardonic to me!

The bed pretty much fills the space in this 150 year old hotel.

Probably a good thing Elva and I are not sharing a room.

A cruise ship shower is larger for sure!

Cathedral which is on the main square is at one end of the street.

We all got a laundromat instruction for those that want to use it on Tuesday.

Just a cute little Easter Dragon.

I think the building and umbrellas are a perfect match!
I like the mix of the architecture.
Statue in the main square of the first president.

A free little train to somewhere.

A cart on the corner had a lady selling popcorn and bubbles!
Karen had posted an Easter photo by the fountain in the Marietta Square near my home.  So I had to do the same but post a Not The Marietta Square picture!
Amazing, maybe Amazonian Tulips!
Back at the hotel the dinner buffet was waiting.  We always have an included dinner on the days we arrive in a new location.

Serious Buffet Instructions!

OUR TWO DAY TRANSFER WITH HOME STAY IS COMPLETE.  GOOD NIGHT!
