The Mood Changes

We returned from the Concentration Camps for a two hour break before our last night in Krakow.  Our Farewell Dinner for the post-extension of the German river trip was this evening.  It is ironic to me that we celebrated after such an eye-opening and contemplative day.

Our bus took us back to the Jewish Quarter, another irony, to a lovely old home where we had a festive and delicious dinner.  Excellent matzo soup, turkey and more matzo and beets.  Following the dinner was a concert of Klezmer Music concert.  This is a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe.  The three piece band consisted of violinist, base player, and accordion player who entertained with Jewish and Polish folk music.

As the most delicious chocolate creme dessert was server a second group began to play.  In this one the violinist was also an amazing Streisandesque singer.  The evening ended all too soon and we returned to the hotel to get our acts together for another long bus ride on Friday morning.

Klezmar Concert, not the music we heard.

I have posted this short note as it didn't seem right to add it to the previous one.  In case the above video clip will not play for you here is a link to a Klezmar concert.
