Elva and I will set out on Saturday for another adventure! Not quite as exciting as the Amazon River, more of a vacation. At least, that is, until our Celebrity Silhouette reaches Southampton, England! It is true that we will be making a few stops along the way but the big excitement begins when we have docked across the pond.
From Southampton we will make our way by train to Windsor and the oldest continuously occupied castle. It should be beautifully ready for the Royal Wedding which happens just two weeks after we leave. If only they had invited us....! After a couple of nights in Windsor we will again board a train to go to Manchester, which is also in England. While there we will meet up with some cousins and then also meet up with our Road Scholar tour of Wales.
Believe it or not I have put together an itinerary that holds some new locations for Elva to visit. This is no mean feat of travel arranging. Elva has not ever been to Windsor or its neighbor Hampton court. Somehow she missed out on Manchester and most of Wales, One of the sites we will visit there was a day trip with her husband many years ago. So a little nostalgia never hurts.
I have a cousin whom I have never met. While we are roaming around Wales she and her daughter are going to meet us for lunch, if all goes as planned, at the National Library. A couple days later my cousin, Lynda, will meet us at our hotel where she has booked herself in overnight because we should have some time in the evening and the next day we have a free morning!
People are amazing! I am very lucky and honored to have distant relations that are so welcoming! I hope I don't disappoint them!
NOTE: While we are crossing the ocean on this trip we will most likely have only three short opportunities to use the internet. (Too expensive on board a cruise liner - last trip on viking it was a rare treat to have it included in the cost!) So you may get a barrage of posts all at one time. Again in the UK I don't know what we will find but I will be publishing as close to when events happen as possible. If you would please sign up as a follower - it is free - then you will be notified and not miss a moment of whatever dull days or exciting ones that we have.
Cheerio!
P.S. So funny. This is obviously a web service I am using and in this case Google itself. Yet the spell check did not recognize nor offer an alternative for the word 'internet!'
